Nicely done video of people who love the Cross Kirkland Corridor. Great job!
For Friends of the CKC and ERC
This is great way to show support for Save Our Trail while participating in the rail removal commemoration. Attend commemoration wearing green with Save Our Trail sign, buttons or whatever you have on Friday, January 8 from 12:30 to approx. 2PM with bike ride on CKC to follow hosted by Cascade Bicycle Club. Bike ride will end at Chainline Brewery. Details are highlighted below.
Ways to help build awareness of our concerns at this event:
In 2016, King County will begin the process of removing the old rails from the Eastside Rail Corridor (ERC) to make way for future trail and transit uses. Join leaders from King County, Bellevue, Kirkland, the business community, The Trust for Public Land, and Cascade Bicycle Club on Friday, Jan. 8 as we get an early start and pull up a few railroad spikes ourselves.
Help us take out our first railroad spike!
These happenings also help kick off the ERC Summit on Saturday, January 9 at Meydenbauer Center.
New Location for the community meeting on November 19 when the City will present information on light rail and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) options for the CKC for community input and feedback. The meeting will be held at the Kirkland Performance Center on November 19. There will be an open house starting at 6:30 followed by a presentation and Q&A.
The Kirkland City Council received an update November 4 on the Sound Transit 3 (ST3) Candidate Projects that could potentially provide Sound Transit service within the city of Kirkland. The Sound Transit Board of Directors has adopted a Candidate Project List (CPL) of projects in August that might be included in the 2016 ST3 Ballot measure. Check out video of the meeting here. The ST3 presentation begins around the 1:27 mark.
To implement transit on the CKC, Kirkland staff, along with Mayor Walen, Councilmember Arnold and Councilmember Asher, have worked closely over the past 11 months with Sound Transit staff and Sound Transit Board members to include options for transit on the CKC connecting the Totem Lake Urban Center to Eastlink light rail in Bellevue.
